Buon Natale! - Merry Christmas

Tanti auguri!

Here it is, one of the most beautiful times of the year and one of the most stressful at the same time!
I wish you to enjoy a joyful Christmas with your dearest and that in every moment, between the food, the presents, the cheerings, may always be serenity.
After this slushy moment, goodbye to you and see you just before New Year's Eve!
Many wishes!

Sleek Shangri-La Collection

Palettes, packaging e i gloss opachi Truly Mattely Deeply -
Palettes, packaging and Truly Mattely Deeply matte glosses.

Ciao a tutte/i!
(Swatch senza base)

Hello girls and guys!
A while back I placed an order on the Sleek UK website because the new collection for fall, called Shangri-La and designed in collaboration with PPQ, came out. It's made of two iDivine palettes and two matte glosses (that I won't even show you: they're bad quality, they instantly dry the lips out and show every single imperfection of the lips, the ingredients are quite bad as well to me and the colors are simply difficult to wear, if you dare to wear them outside your house of course xD = total waste of money).
The promo pics really striked me (you can find them on the Allura Beauty post) as well as some of the colors in the palettes.
As you have probably noticed from the ads,  the inspiration are the 60s: therefore some of the names of the colors are an omage to the Motown artists and the soul music of those years.
The palette with warm tones is the Respect Palette while the one with cool tones is the Supreme Palette: in both the quality of the eyeshadows is quite good, considering the low price. Some of the matte ones feel like *butter*! Plus, there are virtually endless possibilities of color combinations, even using the palettes together.
Here they are!

butter LONDON Branwen's Feather

Luce del sole diretta - Direct sunlight

Ciao a tutti!
Spero abbiate passato un bel weekend come me!

Hello everyone!
Hope you had a great weekend like I did! Finally yesterday the sun came out again and I took a lot of pictures of makeup swatches and of the nail polish I'm wearing, Branwen's Feather from butter LONDON. It's an almost black purple that reveals beautiful purple and silver shimmers in the light (clearly visible in the bottle pic.)
Two coats with top coat!

E voi cosa state indossando?
Alla prossima!

China Glaze Elephant Walk

Luce diretta del sole - Direct sunlight

Ciao!

 Hi!
One word only: grey. An original, elegant and portable color... awesome!
Personally, I fell in love with this color on the nails when years ago (I think in 2009) I bought YSL number 39, Gris Orage or Stormy Gray. It's the right tone of grey, not too light and not too blue since it has cool undertones. I'll talk about it around Christmas.

Today I bring you another grey but with green undertones: Elephant Walk, from this fall collection "On Safari".
The application is good and the color is opaque in two coats. The drying time is good too, I managed not to ruin it after I've applied as I often do (things that do tend to happen if you apply nail polish just before leaving the house or if you can't stop yourself from grabbing things when the polish is still wet xD)

Fissa per il rame? - Copper fixation?

Ciao!

Hello!
Here I am with two fall nail polishes, eventually!
They're two China Glaze and the next post will be about another China Glaze... not a lot of variation in brand choice lately... ^^

First one is Harvest Moon: a super shimmery, almost foil, copper shade from the Spring Collection, Colors From the Capitol.
I was really excited when I saw this, I couldn't wait to wear it in the coldest months, but my enthusiasm has been put back in its right perspective not because of the formula, you achieve good coverage with two-coats, but because of the color which doesn't suit me at all! Probably it looks better on a lighter complexions.

Luce del sole diretta - Direct sunlight

Luce Naturale - Natural Light

Il secondo è Going My Way?, della collezione Vintage Vixen (autunno 2010), un bel marrone con una base scuretta ma trasparente e leggeri riflessi ramati. Decisamente più nelle mie corde!

The second one is Going My Way?, from the Vintage Vixen collection (Fall 2010), a nice brown in a medium dark base with light copper shimmer.

Luce del sole diretta - Direct sunlight

Luce del sole diretta  (scusate la foto è sfocata, ma il colore è più realistico) - Direct sunlight (Sorry, it's blurry but more true to color)

Quali colori state indossando voi? Fatemi sapere!
Alla prossima!

What colors are you wearing? Let me know in the comments!

Spam smaltoso estivo - Summer polish spam

Ciao ragazze (e ragazzi)!

Hello girls (& guys)!
I'm not even trying to make some excuse for my absence but at this point you should have understood that nail polish (and beauty) is a big passion of mine but my blogging is not that regular... be courteous and bare with me ;-)

Today I bring you nothing less than.... the nail polishes I've worn this past summer!
Just to give a pop of color and at the same time close the "summer chapter" and move on to fall colors (that I *adore*).
I tried to lessen the quantity of pics assembling them into collages. Even doing so, the post is going to be picture heavy but I really hope you like 'em!
Without further ado, enjoy the photos!
(Named from the top left proceeding clockwise, all swatched using two coats exept where specified)

Orly Truly Tangerine, Orly Truly Tangerine sulle mani - on tips + Rococo Nail Apparel Metal Jacket sui piedi - on toes, Essie Watermelon, Ciaté Skinny Jeans

Dettaglio di Zoya Zuza (Macro of Zoya Zuza), OPI Strawberry Margherita (solo una passata - just one coat), OPI Gargantuan Green Grape, Color Club Disco Dress (è più viola dal vivo - more purple in real life)

Tentativi di nail art su una mia amica in alto, poi su di me - Nail art attempts on my friend (above) and on me (below)
Ecco gli smalti utilizzati (partendo da in alto a sinistra) - Here are the polishes starting from the top left:

Preferiti dell'estate - Summer favourites

Ciao!!

Hi!
Today I bring you a post I've been wanting to write from a little while... a while... ok, so much time that now I'm outta time!
Anyway, who cares, I wanna post it and I'm gonna post it, even if it was January the 2nd xD ( it can always be read as a reference!).

As the title suggests, I'd like to show you my favourite cosmetics and makeup of this past summer.
Let's start with skincare, bodycare and haircare (because I'm caring... xD).

Protezione solare con SPF medio-alto / Sun protection with medium-high SPF

Protecting yourself from UV rays damage is important, so always wear sunprotection ON your face and body during the summer. I'm sorry, the product I've used is by an Italian brand not available abroad, but there so many good alternatives you won't need this specific one ;-)

Crema idratante / Body Lotion

Hydrating, as well as drinking lots of water, is the key during the summer to keep the your skin moisturized and beautiful.
One of my favorite body lotion is from a German brand called Lavera... not sure if it's available outside of Europe. But like... in the US don't you have Pacifica? *_* Or Burt's Bees?

Scrub

Exfoliating is another important step to keep the skin nice and smooth during the summer (well, actually all year round!) and to avoid the annoying peeling that can occur after sunbathing. Use any body polish that you like! I personally prefer the ones with sugar or fine salt suspended in organic oils' concotions, but this summer I chose a monoï and black sand foaming scrub from a brand called Hei Poa.

Crema depilatoria / Shaving cream
Beh... in estate è importante no!?

Here's a little trick I've learned from a Youtube guru, MakeupByTiffanyD: she said she uses a Lush shower smoothie to shave her legs... and it works great! Even better than their shaving creams, if you ask me.

Crema Anticellulite / Anti-cellulite cream

Honestly, this is an extra step for me: I mean, if it's important for you, go for it! But since I'm not a very  persistent person, these treatments almost never work on me. I've used it just because I crave for the Almond scent by L'Occitane (and to get a bit of relief from the sense of heaviness of the legs I get so often due to the summer heat and humidity).

Maschera idratante / Hydrating Hair Mask

If you have dry hair like me, you know that during the summer, thanks to sun, salt and sweat, they become softer than straw (ahahah)... that's why a mask is always appreciated. Even if you have normal hair. The one pictured above is from an Italian brand, Helan, and I bought it because an Italian guru, Miss Rettore, mentioned it. [She speaks only in Italian I believe, but if you're curious feel free to click on the name to go to her Youtube channel.]

Olio nutriente / Nurishing oil

I like to think it protects my hair. And in a certain measure it does. Plus, you can use it as a pre-shampoo softening treatment. I've read virgin coconut oil works like magic!

MAKEUP!

E dura. Mentre i blush in polvere... mmm ne ho usati pochi, "scivolano" via :( Ho usato un po' quello di The Balm, Cabana Boy, forse per il nome evocativo.

I'll talk about makeup as briefly as I can, otherwhise you'll be fainting out of boredom xD
Premise: I hate anything other than a light moisturizer on my skin when it's hot outside.
So finding a great product like the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer has been a good solution. Used that as my base and sun protection.
Mascara? Waterproof, obviously! The ones I've tried before usually didn't do a great job at volumizing and dried out my lashes, but the one from MAC didn't.
My go-to blush has been Loukum by Nars, a coral shade with a tad of shimmer that doubles as an highlighter.  I feel like this is a super underrated product, I've barely seen it in other blogs. It definitely deserves more fame than it has!
I've used Cabana Boy (evocative name, uh?) by theBalm sometimes, but the heat don't help the staying power of powder blushes on me.

Tutto tempo guadagnato!

My eye makeup consisted of either golden eyeshadows that reminded me of sand on the eyelid with a line of blue or light blue (sea) on the bottom lashline OR one single well blended bright e/s on top and bottom.
Finally, lips: they give the idea of a polished face, even if you're not wearing too much (on your face, I mean) (did I ever mentioned I hate too many products on my skin during the summer? Yeah? xD).
For more natural lips I wore UD Lip Love in Lolita and MAC Cremesheen Lipglass in Richer Lusher.
When I wanted drama (i.e.: when I went out at night) I *sported* (doesn't this verb sound decadent? xD): MAC Send Me Sailing!, a blue-based red lipglass; Kiko Ultra Glossy Stylo n. 805 Strawberry Pink (a lipstick from an Italian brand...); MAC Lipstick in Dish It Up! (I've swatched it here).

Spero che il post vi sia piaciuto! So che arrivo tardi, ma meglio tardi che mai no?
Quali prodotti avete spremuto fino alla fine quest'estate?
Ah ovviamente vi starete chiedendo... e gli SMALTI!?
Ovvio: meritano un post a parte.
Al prossimo post!

I hope you enjoyed this post even though I'm running very very late, but better late than ever, right?

Which products are your staples during the summer?
Oh.. you might be wondering... where are the NAIL POLISHES?
Of course: they deserve a post on their own.
If you're interested, check out the next post! Take care!

China Glaze On Safari: le mie scelte - my picks!

Ciao a tutti!

Hello everyone!
I'm sorry, I've been missing for a long time but this summer has been quite intense: bedroom restyling (and renewed makeup-polishes corner :-) ), holidays, studying and July and September exams... But it's been a summer full of polishes and hauls too.

I hope I can make it up returning with something I personally consider veeery interesting: the China Glaze Fall 2012 Collection "On Safari" polishes! I know I'm late 'cause there are a million better posts about it online, but I like too much not to show you!

Photo courtesy of The Crimson Petal

I eyed this collection at the beginning of the year, when promo pictures of the display were circulating. Apart from the name of the collection, that makes you think of warm colors and exotic breath-taking places, the colors as well didn't seem bad to me. And actually some of them are truly beautiful.
I admit, there aren't many unique colors, but all of them kind of fit into the safari theme of the collection, which is divided into two parts like many CG main collections (i.e.: Rodeo Diva or Vintage Vixen):

Native
Man Hunt blu regale (sì, è un colore xD) – royal blue
Exotic Encountersverde petrolio medio e “polveroso” – dusty medium teal creme
Elephant Walkgrigio medio shimmer –  shimmer medium gray
Jungle Queenviola shimmer “polveroso” – Chanel n. 509 “Paradoxal” dupe  – dusty shimmer purple
Purr-fect Plumprugna scuro – dark plum
Prey Tellmarrone-vinaccia – burgundy-brown

Tourist
Adventure Red-yrosso ciliegia – cherry red
Call of The Wildmarrone scuro – dark brown
Desert Sunalbicocca – apricot
I Herd Thatglitter rame-dorato olografico – copper-gold holographic glitter
I’m not Lionglitter argento-dorato olografico – silver-gold holographic glitter
Kalahari Kisssabbia chiaro – light sand

Ecco cos’ho scelto tra cotanta beltà:
Here are my picks amongst all of these beauties:

Due passate ciascuno, luce del sole diretta - Two coats each, direct sunlight

Desert Sun

This one screams "fall" to me and it's one of the most unique colors among my five picks AND the entire collection: still, not everyone might dig it.
I applied two coats and as you can see it's not completely opaque: I like it like that, but with three coats it should be completely opaque.

Exotic Encounters

To many other bloggers this is the must-have, the most unique, the most beautiful, the winner, alas! And who am I to disagree? Well, actually I do disagree on some points: ok, nice color and great formula but the color it's not so original. Do you recall Dirty Sexy Money by Misa? EE it's darker, less dusty, but you can clearly see they're relatives!

Purr-fect Plum

The name says it all: perfect plum. Nice polish, the color is full, rich and elegant. It may not be the craziest color of the year, however it's a classic after all and you can never go wrong with classics. Consider that almost any nail polish brand has a color like this (like Zoya Sofia for example).

Adventure Red-y

OK, I admit it, I'm in a red-mania phase: the color I've always rejected and categorized as vulgar as hell on the nails NOW drives me mad! Must be the fact that I'm aging. This red in particular has the PERFECT formulation and a STUNNING color tone that seems somewhat between OPI Chick Flick Cherry e OPI Got the Blues For Red.

Elephant Walk

OK, I admit it, I'm perpetually in a gray-mania phase (well, honestly you can substitute gray with purple, green, blu and all the greige-type colors xD ): Elephant Walk differs from any gray I own. With a slightly green undertone and an interesting shimmer in it, I think it's a must-have for the gray lovers like me.

Ombra, luce naturale, flash - Shade, Natural Light and Flash

Spero che questo post via sia piaciuto. Avete preso qualcosa di questa collezione? Che colore ha catturato la vostra attenzione? Fatemi sapere! A presto!

I hope you liked this post. Have you got something from this collection? Which color caught your attention? Let me know! Take care!
