Acquistini Kiko - Kiko Mini Haul

Mi spiace essere sparita per più di un mese, ma sono stata un po' indaffarata e non ho seguito il blog.. però mi sono venute in mente tante idee per nuovi post ;-)

Venendo al sodo, la scorsa settimana sono passata da Kiko e mi sono lasciata tentare dai prodotti nuovi: ho infatti preso uno smalto in uno dei nuovi colori e un ombretto in crema della nuova collezione estiva, City Summer.

I'm sorry, I haven't posted for more than a month but I've been quite busy... however, in the meantime I got some nice ideas for future posts ;-)

Let's get to the point: last week I went shopping and I bought two things from an Italian brand called Kiko Make Up Milano. I picked up a nail varnish in one of the new shades and a cream shadow from the summer collection, called City Summer.

Mini haul Kiko

Smalto n° 359 Pesca Chiaro: come suggerisce il nome, è un arancione chiaro con una punta di rosa e in realtà il colore mi sembrava molto soft nella boccetta, una volta applicato invece... poom! A me sembra quasi fluo!

La formula è un po' densa, però si stende abbastanza bene. Nella foto sotto vedete due passate, utilizzando un nail primer e poi un top coat Barielle (di cui farò la review prossimamente ;-) ): non è perfetto perchè ci sono delle striature ben visibili, quindi se siete delle perfezioniste forse fareste 3 passate ( io non je la fo).

Nail Lacquer n° 359, Light Peach: as the name suggests, it is a light orange with a tad of pink. In the bottle it seems a soft shade, but on the nails it's just... kaboom!!! So bright, almost fluo!

The formula tends to be on the thick side, but it's not so bad and it applies quite well.

In the picture below you see two coats ( with a nail primer and a top coat, both from Barielle... I'll review them soon!): and you can see various streaks, so if you want perfection you should go for a third coat, but I'm just too lazy.

Luce naturale (giornata uggiosa) - Natural Light (rainy day)

Liquid Colour Eyeshadow colore 03 Aqua: un ombretto in crema in edizione limitata per l'estate dalla texture cremosa e molto pigmentato.

L'ho solo swatchato sulla mano, ma sembra che si stenda e si sfumi bene. Mi chiedo se la durata è ottima come dicono sul sito. Ci sono otto colori disponibili ed in particolare mi hanno colpita anche lo 04 Indigo, un bellissimo blu intenso brillante, e lo 02 Green, un verde tra il pastello e l'acceso, ma ho scelto l'azzurro perchè mi ricorda per l'appunto il colore dell'acqua.

Vi farò sapere com'è la durata! :-)

Liquid Colour Eyeshadow 03 Aqua: a limited edition cream eyeshadow with a velvety texture and very pigmented.

All I did was swatch it on my hand and it applies and blends in well. I wonder if it's longlasting as they say on the website. There are eight colours available ( two gorgeous shades are 04 Indigo, a bright almost electric blue, and 02 Green, a pastel green) but I've chosen a nice light blue that reminds me of water.

Shop MAC, don't Cook it (really)!

Le nuove collezioni MAC sono finalmente arrivate e sono corsa a provare tutto (sono stata la prima cliente a swatchare!). Ho buttato l'occhio soprattutto sulla Shop MAC, Cook MAC, che ha un packaging coloratissimo, e sulla Vera.

Sono tornata a casa con 2 Kissable, 1 rossetto e 3 Pearlglide.

The newest MAC collections finally hit the store on Thursday here in Italy and I ran to see it all on the same day (I've been the first client to swatch the products!).

I ended up picking up 2 Kissables, 1 lipstick and 3 pearlglides from the Shop Mac, Cook Mac (colourful packaging!) and the Vera Collection.

Kissable Lipcolor: si tratta di un rossetto ma nel formato di lucidalabbra, la formula è leggera e il finish è satinato. Tende ad inserirsi nelle pieghette, soprattutto So Vain.

Sono contentissima di Flaunting It... con il mio colorito è fantastico (ho la tonalità NW40 MAC), è particolare ma senza essere esagerato.

Kissable Lipcolor: it's basically lipstick in a lipgloss packaging, the formula is lightweight and it has a satin finish. The shade So Vain tends to get into the lines.

I'm glad I've chosen Flaunting It... it'is very nice on my skin color (NW40) and it's unique without being too overwhelming.

Lipstick: ho scelto Dish It Up, un fucsia ma non troppo acceso. Per le volte in cui mi sentirò più in vena di giocare con il colore. Mi ha un briciolo seccato le labbra, ma nulla che un po' di burrocacao applicato prima del colore non possa tranquillamente risolvere, tamponatelo solo un pochino per non far "scivolare" via il rossetto.

Lipstick: I've chosen Dish It Up, plummy muted fuchsia. For the times I'll want to play with color. It is a tad drying on the lips, but it's nothing you can't solve applying a nice chapstick or a lip balm as a base: just wipe it a bit off before going in with the l/s.

Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner: Morbide come burro, super pigmentate, glitterate... magnifiche! Erano mesi che volevo Undercurrent, da quando ho trovato uno smokey verde realizzato con la pearlglide.

Black Line in pratica è Wagon Trail (China Glaze) in formato matita, mentre Industrial è un azzurro che in alcune luci diventa un bellissimo viola molto simile all'ombretto Parfait Amour.

In teoria dovrebbero entrare a far parte della collezione permanente.

Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner: Smooth as butta, super pigmented, glittery and sparkly... awsome!

It's been months since I wanted Undercurrent, since I've seen it in a photo of a smokey eye.

Black Line is practically Wagon Trail by China Glaze in a pencil form, while Industrial is a shiny light blue with a purple duochrome very similar to Parfait Amour e/s.

They should become part of the permanent collection.

Smalto per San Valentino - St. Valentine's Mani

Here are my last two NOTDs

Prima un colore che ha scelto il mio ragazzo: mi sentivo in vena di colori chiari, anche per spezzare un po' con i "soliti" colori invernali, e gli ho chiesto di sceglierne uno. Alla fine sono rimasti un rosa e un azzurro e ha optato per l'azzurro di Barry M, Blue Moon.

Molto carino ed è durato anche abbastanza (il terzo giorno il colore ha cominciato a venir via - sono tempi da record per le mie mani senza lo Zoya Color Lock System ;-) )

First, a color that my boyfriend picked up: I wanted to paint my nails with something light for a change instead of the "usual" winter mani. I asked him to choose a color and, between the finalists pink and light blue, the latter won: it was Barry M Blue Moon.

Very nice, it lasted almost three days, which is kind of a record for me if I don't use the Zoya Color Lock System ;)

La manicure dopo voleva essere per San Valentino (peccato fossi troppo di fretta e non abbia messo lo smalto, se non il giorno dopo) indi per cui... rosso!!!

OPI Royal Rajah Ruby, un rosso che ho comprato perchè mi ero innamorata di un colore della China Glaze della collezione Rodeo Diva che si chiama Branding Iron, ma siccome non l'ho trovato ho preso questo dell'OPI che dovrebbe essere abbastanza simile.

E' un rosso scuro con riflessi metallici rossi che gli danno una luce fantastica. Ha qualcosa di marrone comunque secondo me.

Scusate le unghie spezzate e le imperfezioni dello smalto, ma non avevo testa di ripassarlo xD

The next manicure was intended for St. Valentine's Day ( but I had it on the next day...) so the choice was... red!!!

OPI Royal Rajah Ruby, my substitute for China Glaze Branding Iron from the Rodeo Diva collection that I fell in love for but I couldn't find.

It's a dark red with brown undertones to my eyes and red metallic shimmer all over that give it a gorgeous light.

Please excuse my messy nails, major tipwear and chipping but painting it on again would have been just annoying xD

Salsa BBQ e la storia di un incendio - BBQ Sauce and the story of a fire

Il titolo del post potrà sembrarvi strano (ok, lo è!), ma non è casuale. E' riferito alla mia recente manicure!

E sì, perchè il colore in questione è molto vicino a quello della salsa barbecue, un rosso scuro con sottotono viola che ben si adatta alle mie unghie corte (il freddo le ha martoriate e le ho tagliate -non che in genere siano lunghissime >.< -).

I know that the title might seem a bit weird (ok, it is), but there's an explanation for it. It's related to my most recent manicure!

And the color in question is very close to that of the bbq sauce, a deep vampy red with a purple undertone that suits my short nails (I had to file them down because this bloody cold is really challenging them -not that they're so long in general >.< -)

 

UN PO' DI STORIA

E' stato uno dei primi OPI che ho adocchiato qualche anno fa su un imprecisato blog ammmericano e la cosa che mi ha incuriosita di più è stato il nome: Mrs O'Leary's BBQ. Direte... un ce sta a di' 'na mazza!

In effetti nemmeno a me questo cognome aveva richiamato alle mente qualcosa in particolare. Però se avete già sentito della storia del Grande Incendio di Chicago del 1871, sapete che secondo la leggenda scoppiò a causa di una ignara mucca che, mentre veniva munta dalla padrona (la signora O'Leary) alla luce di una lampada, scalciò e fece cadare a terra la suddetta. Due giorni dopo, l' intera città era stata completamente bruciata e a rattristare il bilancio si aggiunsero le almeno 300 vite perse nell'incendio.

Da questo significativo evento della storia della città, OPI ha preso spunto per creare Mrs O'Leary's BBQ e farlo entrare nella Chicago Collection. Il nome è un po' macabro, però lo trovo originalissimo e secondo me è uno dei nomi più belli inventati dal brand.

A BIT OF HISTORY

It has been one of the first OPIs I've spotted in some American beauty blog some years ago and what hook me was the name of it: Mrs O'Leary's BBQ. Now... surely you all know about the Chicago Great Fire that destroyed the city in the dry summer of 1871 and I guess that you also know about the unfortunate cow that started it. Mrs O'Leary was tipping her cow at night, so there was a lantern nearby. Somehow the cow kicked and made the lantern fall, the fire started and it spread pretty fast because at that time the houses were mainly made of wood. After two days and a clement rain, the aftermath was petrifying: basically the city burned to the ground and at least 300 victims.

From this major event in the history of the city, OPI took inspiration and created this nail polish and put it in the Chicago Collection.

The name is kind of creepy but I personally think it's one of the most original names invented by the brand.
